Dr. Ellen B. French, first full-time director of Church of God Women's Ministries (1964-1968), was born in Mountain Home, Idaho, and educated in the public schools in St. Francois County, Missouri. Dr. French received a diploma from the Church of God Bible Training School, a B. A. degree from Southern California College, a master's degree from Butler University and a doctorate from Middle Tennessee State University. Dr. French holds a certificate as a Church of God chaplain and is an ordained minister in the Church of God. She is the mother of 5 sons, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Alumni of Lee University will remember Dr. French as a professor of English. She was married to the late Chancel E. French for 73 years. The Frenches are former missionaries to India, and Sister French presently resides in Rome, Georgia.
